At Barrington Schools we pride ourselves on providing a warm, encouraging, and educational setting that nurtures a lifelong enthusiasm for learning for all the children in our care. What sets us apart from all the other daycare centers in Central, Ohio?

Here are 10 key things that make Barrington centers unique and one notch above the rest.

Onsite Chef for Daily Snacks and Meals

All our centers have a chef onsite. They prepare breakfast, lunch, and a snack for the students every day. They create and shop their meal plan weekly to ensure we are providing the freshest, most nutritious meals for our students. Meals are made fresh daily and delivered classroom to classroom which is a much-anticipated part of our day!

Organic Food:

We offer all-organic food to the children in our classrooms. Children are provided meals or snacks three times a day in our care, and we believe it is important to have a healthy, nutritious start in life, so we only serve organic options with unique recipes such as ricotta chocolate chip cookies (a crowd favorite) and muffins made with black beans (yes, black beans!)

Snacks:

Our children are offered and provided a snack every day and it must include a protein. It is very important to our owners that the children have a healthy, sustainable option when it comes to snacking. So, our centers made it a rule that each snack must contain protein.

Organic, Fresh Infant Pureed Foods:

We are currently working on a process to provide organic, fresh infant pureed foods to our infant classrooms. In accordance with our mission to prioritize healthy nutrition, it only makes sense for us to provide this elevated level of food to the smallest children in our centers.

Balanced Family:

We operate under a Balanced Family approach. We believe it is important to maintain open lines of communication with the families in our facility. We use an app to communicate with our parents, so if a parent is quick to drop off a child and rushes out to work but forgets some details about the child's day, you can message the teacher in real time. The app also allows teachers to post pictures of the children throughout the day, which our parents love!

Ratios:

It is our policy to maintain student-to-teacher ratios well below the state minimum. Maintaining teacher-student ratios lower than those required by the State provides increased safety, enhanced teacher/child relationships, stronger social and emotional development, improved academic performance and greater engagement. We achieve the highest quality education and care, and maintaining lower student/teacher ratios reflects our dedication to this initiative.

Outdoor Spaces:

Our outdoor space is equipped with the safest structures for children to learn and explore. According to Jess Hoffman, owner of Barrington Schools, “our outdoor playgrounds are built with turf for year-round play, no mulch/dirt/grass stains.” It is a clean, safe space for all the children with tall fencing, and many areas to explore, learn and grow. “We are going to install a tire swing at every location, because it is a hit, all the kids love it!”

Excellent Teachers:

Barrington Schools recruits, trains and maintains only qualified and experienced teachers for the children in our care. The experienced lead teachers in each of our classrooms plan exciting, hands-on activities created specifically for the children they teach, including American sign language to communicate with infants. “Teachers and staff have been wonderful, and they truly keep a fresh curriculum for the students that includes dance, sports, yoga, stories, and of course free play and outdoor time.,” says parent Lindsay Adams.

Safe Space in Classroom:

Each classroom is equipped with a safe space for children to go when they need to decompress. Preschool center director Hailey Shapland described the space as “unique to Barrington and a space that is for all children in each classroom.” It is a small, dedicated area where a child can go to be alone and reflect on their day. It is open for the children to access but also sheltered a bit from the rest of the classroom, for proper quiet time.

Enrichment:

Barrington Schools offer a variety of enrichment options for all classrooms in their schools daily. Some examples of the enrichment activities offered at Barrington are programs such as music, dance, yoga, gymnastics, cooking, sports and more. All are led by certified instructors with support from teachers. This allows for every student to expand their knowledge and skill set while remaining in the safety and comfort of their classroom environment.

At Barrington Schools, we have a unique approach to childcare and early learning. We believe proper nutrition and healthy choices are important for a strong start in life, that is why we employee a full-time chef at each of our centers and offer only organic food options. Our connection with families and children we care for and teach is a top priority, maintaining ratios below the state requirement is important to achieve this goal. Finally, our qualified and experienced teaching staff helps us to remain a top-notch daycare and preschool center, offering innovative ideas and learning models to all the children in our centers.
