Many parents view daycare as a safe and nurturing place for their children to spend their day while they work or run errands. And while that’s certainly true at Barrington Schools, we believe this early childhood experience can - and should - be so much more

Our curriculum is designed to spark curiosity, build foundational skills, and help each child develop a lifelong love of learning. It’s an advanced, evidence-based approach that combines play, exploration, and structure, all tailored to where each child is developmentally.

A Thoughtful, Evidence-Based Approach

Our program is approved by the State of Ohio’s Department of Children and Youth, follows the Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards, ensuring that every story, every art project, and every hands-on activity is intentionally created to support your child where they are. We’re also proud to use a curriculum that aligns with NAECY standards, recognized nationwide for meeting high-quality criteria in areas like teacher-student interaction, learning environment, and child outcomes.

And while we deeply value having a curriculum that is grounded in research, guided by state standards, and trusted by early education experts, we also want it to be fun, engaging, and foster a lifelong love of learning.

“Our teachers are able to adapt quickly and incorporate things into the day that the children are interested in, getting them engaged and making learning feel natural,” explained Brittani Cherri Cherry, Director of Operations at Barrington Schools. “The goal is to get them excited about learning - now and for the future.”

Growing with Your Child

Because Barrington works with children from infancy through pre-K, the learning experience evolves with each stage. Here’s a high-level glimpse into each of our programs: Infant Program: Our infant curriculum emphasizes opportunities for interactions that support sensory stimulation, cognitive awareness, and motor development. Our social-emotional program helps infants develop an awareness and expression of feelings, laying the foundation for future learning.

Infant Program >>   Toddler Program: Our toddler classrooms encourage exploration and hands-on learning. Our focus is on developing the whole child, emphasizing activities designed to build curiosity, creativity, and early skills in cognition, language, physical development, and social-emotional growth. Toddlers also develop important self-help habits like handwashing, potty training, family-style dining, and basic conflict resolution.

Preschool Program: Our preschool curriculum is when things begin to shift towards early literacy, math concepts, and social emotional growth. This classroom is designed to challenge and inspire your child, while supporting key developmental milestones through independent play, group activities, hands-on learning, and enrichment activities like music, dance, gymnastics, and more.

Our Pre-K and Pre-K+ Program: Our Pre-K and Pre-K+ curriculums build on the skills your child developed in preschool, supporting kindergarten readiness through writing, letter recognition, phonemic awareness, counting, and reading, while fostering independent thinking, confidence, and community participation.

No matter the age, our core approach stays the same: learning through discovery, play, and connection.

Keeping Parents Connected

Transparency is a huge part of the Barrington experience. Each week, teachers send home a curriculum overview that outlines what the class will be learning, along with ideas for continuing those lessons at home. Parents also receive daily updates through the Procare app, complete with photos, notes, and the objectives behind each activity - so you’ll always know what your child is learning and why.

“It’s evidence-based information presented in a way that’s easy for parents to understand,” Brittani explained. “We want families to feel connected to what’s happening in the classroom.”

Our teachers also use built-in assessment tools to track developmental milestones and growth. Twice a year, Barrington families receive detailed progress reports and can meet with teachers for conferences to discuss how their child is learning socially, emotionally, and academically.

A True Partner in Your Child’s Growth

At Barrington, we see ourselves as an extension of your family. Our teachers embrace a Conscious Discipline Model, partnering closely with parents to make sure every child feels safe, supported, and loved - because we know that learning can’t happen effectively until that foundation of trust is strong. We aim to be far more than who you trust your child while you’re at work – but a true partner in their ongoing development.

Barrington Schools were built on the belief that early learning should be both fun and meaningful. Our advanced learning curriculum isn’t just about preparing children for what comes next; it’s about giving them the tools and attention they need to build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
