At Barrington, we know you have choices when deciding on your childcare needs. Our owners and team members pride ourselves in being a “safety first” community.  While it is hard to narrow our list to just these ten, our focus is to make sure we provide a safe, nurturing environment at each and every Barrington location. Our schools are family owned, and operated, with over 50 years of experience. We invite you to visit any of our childcare centers near you and learn more about our safety best practices and to take a tour to learn more.

  1. Staff-to-Child Ratio: The Barrington School stands apart by maintaining teacher-student ratios that are below those required by the State of Ohio.  With additional teachers in our classrooms, you can be confident that your child gets more attention, care, and safety.

  2. Staff Qualifications and Training: Our qualified teachers provide the highest level of education in every classroom from sign language in the infant classroom to homework help in the kindergarten enrichment space. According to childcare.gov, trained caregivers are more likely to promote the physical and mental health, safety, and cognitive development of the children in their care. At Barrington, we ensure our educators are trained and equipped with the tools to handle most situations.

  3. Licensing and Accreditation: Proper licensing and accreditation is a requirement for any daycare facility, indicating that the facility meets established safety and educational standards. Every Barrington school meets and goes above and beyond state licensing and accreditation standards.

  4. Age-Appropriate Enrichment: To enhance each child’s experience within our schools, we incorporate educational enrichment activities daily.  We know kids love exploring new skills. These enrichment activities include special programs such as music, dance, yoga, cooking, and sports. All our enrichment activities are led by 3rd party instructors that enhance our programming in these areas.

  5. Cleanliness and Hygiene: A clean environment is essential for preventing the spread of illness. Little hands touch everything. We take extra care to keep classrooms clean nightly, with handwashing routines and freshly cleaned toys every day.

  6. Medicine and Cleaning Product Storage: Medical and cleaning supplies are safely stored and always away from the children in our care (emergency and daily medications are stored in the same room as the child should an emergency arise). We maintain strict guidelines for administering medication to our students and work closely with our families to understand each child’s daily medical needs.

  7. Emergency Preparedness: A comprehensive emergency plan is in place, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and clear communication protocols.

  8. Organic food and organic food preparation: Organic food means no pesticides, a clear differentiator for our programs at Barrington. In addition, we ensure our chef prepares the food portions to the proper size to prevent choking hazards.

  9. Open Communication and Parental Involvement: Barrington School has an all-inclusive operating model. Diapers, wipes, bedding, bibs, and sunscreen are all provided for your child as a part of your tuition.  We feel this added benefit serves to foster connections between our parents and teachers, as they are able to focus on conversations pertaining directly to the children and bypass continual reminders to bring supplies.

  10. Secure and Safe Environments: Finally, our centers are physically safe with properly maintained equipment, including all furniture and playground equipment. We also consider safety protocols first when planning events for our students.
